The IFV team brings together a dynamic blend of entrepreneurial spirit, operational expertise and strategic vision.  Having “been there and done that,” the team emphasizes autonomy, rapid growth and a hands off approach but is willing and versed in rolling up their sleeves and jumping in when needed and helpful. Collaborative and respectful with a long-term view, the team has an inherent passion for the game of business that is contagious.
  • Van Isley

    CEO

    Originally from Burlington NC, Van earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from East Carolina University in 1985.  His work history includes:  8 years in the Raleigh office at Price Waterhouse, a large multinational accounting firm where he earned his Certified Public Accountant designation and served as an Audit Manager and Director of Marketing; 10 years at Carolina Builders/Stock Building Supply, a large national building material sales and distribution company as a Regional Manager; and, 19 years as the founder and CEO of Professional Builders Supply (“PBS”), a rapidly growing $750+ million distributor of residential building materials with multiple locations throughout the Carolinas.  PBS was included 14 times in the Triangle Business Journal’s list of 50 fastest-growing companies including a number one ranking in 2013.  The company was twice named one of Entrepreneur magazine’s “Hot 100” fastest-growing companies in the United States and was listed several times on the Inc. 5000.  The company was also named a Best Place to Work in the Triangle and in the State of North Carolina.


    In 2017 Van and his team orchestrated a recapitalization resulting in a successful exit for several of the original PBS investors and a new partnership with Capitol Broadcasting Company.  In December of 2021, after a period of unprecedented growth and profitability, the company was acquired by US LBM, an industry consolidator backed by Bain Capital. 

    Van has since launched Isley Family Ventures, a family office that manages numerous investments in operating companies and real estate ventures.  Van was a Southeast Regional finalist for the E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year Award and is a past recipient of the Outstanding Alumni award at ECU and a CEO of the Year Award from the Triangle Business Journal.  He currently serves on the Board of Trustees at East Carolina University, U.S. Fence Solutions, Majestic Marble and Alpine Healthcare and Advisory Boards for Garman Homes, Fuller Land and Development, Campbell Oil Company, Southern Outdoor Restoration and the East Carolina University Miller School of Entrepreneurship.  He and his wife Jennifer reside in Raleigh and are the parents of two sons, Jake and Johnny.    

  • Bill Honaker

    CFO

    Bill Honaker earned his accounting degree from The College of William & Mary in 1985. He began his career at Price Waterhouse in Raleigh alongside Van, working together for several years before transitioning from public accounting. Bill accumulated five years of experience between Price Waterhouse and KPMG prior to joining Centex Homes, where he spent 19 years serving in various roles including finance, purchasing, construction, and management. His leadership experience also includes serving as Vice President of Operations at Wayne Homes and Division Manager at Ryland Homes in Greenville, SC, before returning to Centex Raleigh to become Land Acquisition Manager.

    In 2008, amid the real estate downturn, Bill joined Wells Fargo as Senior Vice President and Regional Manager overseeing REO assets for the Mid-Atlantic region. He departed Wells Fargo in 2014 and subsequently worked in contract capacities for national builders, local developers, and Professional Builders Supply, where he undertook a range of real estate and operational projects.

    Bill has been a licensed CPA since 1987 and holds both a North Carolina Broker’s license and an NC General Contractor’s license. In 2023, he joined Isley Family Ventures as Chief Financial Officer.

  • Jennifer Isley

    Originally from Oak Ridge, TN Jennifer graduated with an Accounting degree from Wake Forest University in 1988.  She joined the Price Waterhouse office in Charlotte and obtained her CPA certificate.  She later served as the Controller for the Old North State Club, an East-West Partners project near Asheboro, NC.  When the family moved to Greenville, SC, she served as the Director of Investment Accounting at the Liberty Corporation and with the next move to Atlanta, she was a Manager with Mauldin and Jenkins, a regional Accounting Firm. Jennifer originally headed up the accounting and finance function at Professional Builders Supply from its launch in 2003 serving as the Controller for over 10 years.  She currently works closely with Bill on the accounting for Isley Family Ventures and handles all personal accounting for the Isley Family as well as Isley Family Properties and several other related entities.  She also serves as the CEO of the Isley Family Foundation and Trustee for the Isley Legacy Trust and the Isley Family Trust.

  • Neal Musser

    After a stellar career in football as a linebacker for North Carolina State University and later the Atlanta Falcons, Neal started his own landscaping business which he led for many years.  He later worked with David Allan Company supervising the installation of terrazzo floor systems and then as a Superintendent for Professional Builders Supply in the commercial division.  Neal oversees several of the properties in the IFV portfolio.
